Camden Half-Term Spring School 15 - 19 February 2021
00:13
Founded in 2011, AccessHE is the organisation responsible for improving access to higher education for underepresented young Londoners
00:18
Working with a membership of over 20 universities within and beyond London, we help shape attitudes and perceptions of higher education.
00:21
Throughout the capital, we have led initiatives that empower young people with the knowledge and expertise to make informed decisions about their futures
00:28
With Camden Giving's financial backing, AccessHE will provide opportunities to schoolchildren throughout the borough whose education and attainment was disturbed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
00:34
During a five day series of activities led local univerities, a group of 60 Year 9 students will participate in activities designed to:
00:36
Raise attainment
00:38
Support core curriculum delivery
00:40
Encourage creativity
00:46
Though access to higher education is typically strong throughout Camden, there remains a skills-deficit between higher and lower income households.
00:47
The five days of events will be led by top university practitioners and lecturers,
00:53
By targeting students either receiving free school meals or eligible for pupil premium funding, the programme aims to address this disadvantage.
