GIVE THE HOMELESS A HOME:
Building A Happier and Secured Household
According to Philippine Statistics Office (PSA)
- There are about 4.5 million homeless people in the Philippines
- about 3 million of them are in Manila
- Most of them are victims of recent typhoons
- Or people who are easily thrown out of their homes by the Government to use their land for infrastructure projects.
Other circumstances that caused people to be homeless are unstable financial income and unemployment.
They have to live on the sidewalks and under bridges with their family.
On July 2020,
A street dweller that is sleeping under the footbridge in Caloocan City, have been robbed. Her wallet was taken away that night and the thief did not stop there,
He still had the audacity to go back in the morning and robbed the remaining things of the poor old woman, and if this was a different situation a more dangerous crime could have happened.
Different crimes could happen on the streets while the homeless people are sleeping and unconscious of their surroundings.
This driven the researcher to investigate and propose a possible solution for the homelessness situation in the Philippines.
This project highlights the current situation of homeless people in the country and aims to give them the rights to have a safe and comfortable shelter.
