Federal and state lawmakers have had a difficult time stopping the activity of cyberbullying. Attempts to make it a criminal act have been thwarted many times. However, 14 states will impose criminal penalties if an individual is convicted of cyberbullying. These penalties can include fines that are as high as $2500 or jail time that lasts for a year.

Cyber bullying is a particularly insidious, vicious and serious variety of bullying. Especially considering that attacking Internet messages can be diseminated to a broad audience, instantly, and can exist for an indefinite period, the damage and misery cyberbullying can create warrants particularly aggressive policing.
It is, in my opinion, incumbent on parents to be aware of what their kids are doing on the Internet. It is also important for parents and schools to solicit information from kids regarding if they are being cyber bullied.

The UAE’s Child Rights Law affirms that all children have the right to education and basic protection in the UAE. Bullying has always been difficult to punish. It is suggested that the increased use of technology may aid bullying. Equally, such technology may assist with tracing its source.
