The assassination of Ninoy Aquino during the Marcos regime is what had sparked the revolution and that would reclaim the Philippines from the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos.

The People Power revolution was also referred to as the Yellow Revolution.

The People Power showed the true powers of democracy. Filipinos relied on faith and rosaries to strengthen them and was used to recover the freedom from the dictatorship.

A monument was built to commemorate the events of the 1986 People Power revolution. It is located on the corner of Epifanio De los Santos Avenue or EDSA.

A shrine was built in 1989 to also commemorate the People Power Revolution This is shrine is called Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace, Our Lady of EDSA or most  commonly known as the EDSA Shrine.

The shrine is the site  of two peaceful  demonstrations which  ousted Presidents  Ferdinand E. Marcos  and Joseph Estrada or also known as  EDSA II of 2001.
