What exactly is Emancipation?
00:20
Meaning
00:20
Emancipation means to be set free. To Emancipate is to set someone or something free.
00:26
Now we have that covered, Let's talk business. Do you  know how the Africans celebrated? Let's  find out!
00:31
How did the Africans Celebrate Emancipation?
00:33
Listing 2 ways they celebrated Emancipation.
00:38
The Africans celebrated their  Emancipation in many  different ways.
00:48
One of these ways are how some slave went back to their hometown since they could do as they please.
00:52
Another way they celebrated their freedom is that some of the former slaves stayed in the country, and bought land from their ex-masters. They then proceeded to plant crops and sell them.
00:59
We still celebrate Emancipation Day for a variety of different reasons. We celebrate Emancipation Day to remember the hardships back then and how courageous they acted to get their freedom. Without their courage, bravery and determination to abolish slavery, Jamaica would not be the same today.
