Ethics in Monsters Inc.
00:04
Describe the ethical issue in the movie Monsters, Inc.,
00:06
The main ethical issue is a conflict between Sully who wants to help Boo, and Mike, and the rest of the monsters, who are scared of the human child and  don't care what happens to her.
00:10
To their society, it is unethical to come into physical contact with humans, but to Sully, it is unethical to leave the kid stranded, no way to find home.
00:15
Is the issue illegal and unethical or just unethical?
00:16
In the scaring world, it is suggested that contact with humans is actually illegal, not just unethical.
00:19
This is evident by George Sanderson, who undergoes Federal decontamination several times throughout  the film.
00:24
Give an alternative plan of action that could have been used by the CEO of Monsters Inc that is more ethical,
00:28
The CEO of Monsters Inc could easily implement some type of code or policy, or some other protective measures to prevent kids from following their monsters  on to the scare floor.
00:33
There should also be some protocols for dealing with this  situation so that the kid is guaranteed a safe return home.
00:38
Do you agree with Mike & Sully’s decision to “blow the whistle” exposing the unethical behavior of the CEO? Why?
00:43
Of course, Mike and Sully made the right decision! By exposing the CEO, Monsters Inc was able to transform from a scaring facility, to a laughter facility, which was proven to be a better source of energy anyways. It also saved Boo and protects many kids to come.
