Using ICloud Drive
Well, what is iCloud Drive exactly?
iCloud Drive is an application built into Apple's operating system(s) to help sync your documents seamlessly across all your devices.
Think of it as a portable filing system that you can access 24/7.
You mean I can start a document on my Computer and open it on my phone?
Here are some prerequisites to help you get started
You must be logged into the same AppleID across all devices. Make sure your devices are on the latest software.
Macs must be on OS X Yosemite or later. iPhones/iPads/iPods must be on 10.0 or later. PCs must be on Windows 10 or later.
To make sure your documents can sync to your iCloud Drive, simply follow the instructions below:
On the Mac:
Click on "System Preferences" located on the Dock
*If you can't find it on your dock, hover your mouse to the very top of the desktop, where you can find the menubar. Then, select the magnifying glass icon to search "System Preferences"
Then, find the "AppleID" or "iCloud" icon and double-click it.
*Depending on your current operating system, the icons may look different and be located a couple rows below
Once you've located the icon and double-clicked it, go down the list and make sure "iCloud Drive" is checked off
Then select the "Options" icon to the right, check off "Desktops & Documents Folders," and all other items you want synced across devices
your documents may take some time to Sync depending on how many you have
That was easy! But how do i know when my documents sync?
you'll know when your documents are syncing/synced to iCloud drive when you open finder and see that "iCloud" has its own section on the toolbar or when you see a cloud icon adjacent to the file name
Pause the video and take your time
Ah! Now i get it!
So now whenever I save a File under "Documents" or "Desktop," it'll sync to my iCloud Drive!
To open the documents on your mobile devices, simply search for the App "Files," or Re-Download it from the App Store
Yay! that was so easy!
Now I don't have to worry about forgetting my documents at home!
