A Year ago, I was diagnosed with early stage Breast Cancer

I was lucky to have found it early and now i get to enjoy time with my family and watch my kids grow.

What is Breast Cancer?

Breast cancer is cancer that develops in the breast cells and can progress into different stages. There are different types of breast cancer, the type of breast cancer depends on which cells in the breast turn into cancer.

Risk Factors

• Age-women after 40 • African American and Jewish women • Genetics/family history • Obesity (not being physically active) • Reproductive history • Taking hormones Environmental factors, including exposure to radiations Excess of alcohol consumption

HOW ITS DIAGNOSE

• Mammogram • Sonogram • Biopsy • Breast MRI

HEALTH PROMOTION AND TREATMENTS

• Maintain healthy weight Stay active • Do not smoke Limit alcohol consumption • Breast self-examinations monthly • Start mammogram screening at age 40 annually.

Some Treatment options are surgery, chemotherapy radiation and complementary/ alternative medicine .
