The 1973 song "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree" by
American pop music group Dawn, featuring Tony Orlando, and
composed by Irwin Levine and L. became the inspiration for
the revolutionary yellow at the time. Scott Brown. The song's
lyrics, which describe a prisoner of war begging his sweetheart
to tie a yellow ribbon around a "old oak tree" to indicate whether
he is still welcome to return to her life, eerily mirror Ninoy's
predicament at the time. To his amazement, he discovers that
the tree is surrounded by a hundred yellow ribbons.
