Southern Alberta was my home for years...

I had close friends, family, ties to the community

I knew for a long time that it wasn't where i was meant to be.

I said goodbye to my mom and dad

Both of them took it pretty hard

I moved to Edmonton

To pursue a career that I would hopefully find meaning in

It hasn't always been easy being away

My parents have both lost major people in their lives recently

and it's been hard to support them through their divorce and parents passings from afar

I worry alot about not being able to spend enough time with them

My parents have always relied on me for support and this transition of location makes it more difficult to be there for them

Change can be overwhelming, even years after we have experienced it. Loss of proximity to loved ones can be a cause for grief, particularly in times of difficulty and crisis.

Just because change is inevitable, does not mean its easy.
