Washington choose both Hamilton and Jefferson because he wanted to see both sides of new ideas and so one would not get to powerful. Jefferson Helped out with presidency and one of the biggest  movements he did was the Declaration of independence.Hamilton  helped out when he was in presidency by Advocating the banking  system,Established the U.S mint and a system of tarrifs and a  international trade system.

Federalist wanted to have a strong central government.The Republicans wanted a strong state government.They both wanted to have a strong government.The first two-party system consisted of the Federalist Party, which supported the ratification of the Constitution, and the Democratic- Republican Party or the Anti-Administration party (Anti-Federalists), which opposed the powerful central government that the Constitution established when it took effect in 1789.
