where our main character, Edna, uses nature, the ocean as a way to be free
and the short essay by Ralph Waldo Emerson titled "Nature" where he expla-
ins how nature makes him feel free.

"There I feel that nothing can befall me in life,—no disgrace, no calamity,
which nature cannot repair"(Emerson 9). He shows how it helps him feel
free. In nature he is his truest self not bond by society, culture, and norms
as others would be.
