We have a problem - Let me brief you on the possible solution to start your discovery
00:03
I can help you find the actual problem AND a solution!
00:06
We think we know the problem and have an idea in mind
00:08
I think we should make sure of that first. Let me introduce the Double Diamond!
00:12
The Double Diamond is a framework to help guide us through discoveries
00:17
It enables us to cast our nets wide to discover all the potential issues, before identifying the true problem area
00:22
We can then explore all the potential opportunities, both incremental and radical, before prototyping, testing and evaluating to find a final solution
00:27
That makes sense,  but how do we do all of that?
00:30
We've co-designed a solution as a team! Let me show you
00:34
Firstly, we've created a 'Discovery Playbook' to ensure consistency in our discoveries and aligned it to the Double Diamond
00:38
It outlines the key stages, tasks and outcomes that we as a team have found beneficial and applicable to all projects
00:43
Next, we now have a Service Design Toolkit, containing tools  to help facilitate our workshops and focus on the user-centred view
00:50
Each card links to a board on Mural or document on SharePoint,  with instructions and tips on how to use them
00:58
Looks impressive! Are we sure the team will use it?
01:01
Yes! We went through our own Double Diamond process to get this solution
01:04
That means it has been co-designed by the team to get the most value out of it!
01:08
First, we explored the problem space with the team to find pains and issues with current approaches
01:12
We then mapped these out in a journey map, aligning the actions and pains to the Double Diamond concept
01:16
We converged by doing some affinity mapping to define the problem areas and highlight initial opportunities
01:20
Going into ideation, we formed some HMW questions and did sunflower ideation, going broad with all the possibilities
01:25
We condensed these down using dot voting and mapped against a priority matrix to get the quick wins and more long-term ideas
01:29
Finally, we tested and iterated some prototypes and mock-ups based on the team's feedback which has led to development of the playbook and toolkit as our solution
01:36
BUT that's not the end! As we conduct more discoveries, we will continue iterating the solutions
01:39
Plus, there were a bunch of strategic ideas for the whole organisation that we can keep looking into!
01:43
Wow! You've been busy. I'm really excited about  this new approach and how we can truly make our services more valuable
01:47
I really want to see how this works out - Take this new project as a trial run and feed back to me after each phase.
01:52
Invite me along to workshops to use these fun tools too! Good luck
