TUG OF WAR WITHIN

Discussion - 13 Intellect is dissatisfied with his brothers progress. Although he is not attached to things and beings as before and also more austere than earlier, he is not doing any independent enquiry on these matters. He is merely knowing and obeying what he is told but has not owned the instructions. Intellect's eagerness is not matching brothers progress. Intellect tries harder.

Intellect points out that everything in matter is changing and has an expiry date. Every change is death of the previous state. A bud dies to give birth to a flower, which dies to give place to a fruit. Change is sorrowful like death. Every child birth is painful and yet it is forgotten and you give many more births, and also death is many times more painful than birth. Then why remain in the realm of sorrow when guidance is readily available.

Intellect is disturbed by his brothers progress . In spite of knowing the nature of matter he still has 'matter' high on his priority list. It is a sign of lack of self effort in spite of the benefit he is enjoying. He reminds him of the deaths that are constantly taking place, where none is spared. Intellect notices that ignorant like a child, brother doesn't fear being born again and again, he does not take part in the daily prayers and he is not touched while listening to the glories of the Lord.
