Discussion 20 Intellect asserts that a human birth is rare. Brother doesn't know the value of the human birth. He doesn't know what can be achieved through this human body. He is ignorant about the cause of this human birth. He does not know how much time in the past he had to wait to get this birth. If this opportunity is missed what is his loss. At the time of death how much guilt he will have to bear.

Intellect pushes brother, on the need to direct all efforts to the gaining of realisation, while he is physically fit and has the mental ability to attain this rare achievement. Intellect feels relieved as he can share the burden of carrying the divine secret with his brother so that they can benefit together. Discrimination and Dispassion are like the two wings of a bird, which are both required to fly high, in this case towards Truth.

Brother not only has to listen to the intellect and clear his doubts but also come under the discipline of the intellect to gain maximum benefit. Knowledge like water flows down- ward towards a lower plane. Likewise unless brother is meek he cannot retain the knowledge. He would merely be hearing and not listening because of his strong ego. Here, intellect wants brother to put all efforts to gain realization.
