Alexander Hamilton
00:17
Hamilton was a founding father  of the US. He fought in the  Revolutionary War and helped draft the Constitution. He also served as the first secretary of the treasury.
00:26
Hamilton's main goals
00:26
the adoption of the constitution a centralized national Government Government revenue/Taxes
00:31
Why did Washington choose both  Hamilton and Jefferson?
00:36
Washington wanted to set a good example by appointing the best people to his administration. Instead of choosing two people with the same views, he chose the best men for the job even if they agreed or disagreed with each other. By  having different views he will be able to  make the best decisions because both sides will be heard
00:49
Washington also did not want political parties
00:54
He believed they may seek to obstruct the  execution of the laws created by the  government or prevent the branches of  government from exercising the powers provided them by the constitution
01:04
a similarity between the federalist and  republican party today is they both wanted a strong economy. A difference is federalists wanted indirect election of government
01:11
Political parties have made our country more divided in different ways. These ways are Rode vs. wade, gun control/gun rights and the Black Lives Matter Protests
01:18
Rode Vs. Wade is a topic on abortion. Pro  abortion people are generally more  democratic and pro life people are generally more republican
01:25
For gun control people are are pro gun are generally more republican and people who are anti gun are generally more  democratic
01:30
Finally, During the Black Lives Matter protests the people who supported it were mostly democratic and the people who were more  against it were republican
